Lions Club Auction
PLACE YOUR BIDS HERE: Lions Auction Site
February 13, 2012 through February 25, 2012
Over six decades, the Lions Club Auction has depended upon the generosity and community spirit of local businesses and individuals for its existence and ongoing success. All of the net proceeds from the auction are used for these charitable purposes. Club member activities are supported solely by the dues paid by members.
Thank you, in advance, for your generosity and support in making this annual fundraiser a record-breaking success! and allowing the Henderson Lions Club to continue to meet our community’s eyesight needs and promote eyesight conservation.
PURPOSE:
The annual Lions Club auction is the primary fundraiser for the Henderson Lions Club. The 2011 auction resulted in net proceeds of over $30,000.00. All of the net proceeds from the auction are utilized to fund the sight conservation programs and charitable work of our club. The auction proceeds are used to provide eye screening for all third and fifth grade students in Henderson County to assist individuals with the cost of eye examinations and eyeglasses; to provide one free pair of eyeglasses to all children in Henderson County; to assist individuals with the cost of various eye surgeries, such as cataract and cornea transplant surgery; and to fund programs promoting sight conservation. Funds raised by the auction are also used to support sight conservation efforts run by other charitable groups, such as the Diabetes Coalition and to fund community service and programs of the club, such a youth baseball team, diabetes and kidney disease screenings, college scholarships, and provide funding to various charitable organizations.
The continuation and extent of the sight conservation community service programs; and charitable efforts of the Henderson Lions Club are dependent upon the annual auction, which is our primary fundraiser. With the ever increasing cost of, and need for, assistance with sight related items, the funds raised by the auction must constantly increase to meet the demand.
HISTORY:
The Henderson Lions Club has conducted an annual auction as its major fundraiser since 1952, at which time the first auction was conducted over the local radio station. In 1975, the auction switched from radio to local cable television, through the generosity of Insight Cable television. For the past several years, the auction has been broadcast from the television facilities at the Henderson Community College.
The introduction of a simultaneous web cast of the auction in 2008 was our next milestone. The web cast will make the auction telecast available not only to all residents of Henderson County, but also to residents of surrounding counties. This innovation will allow us to reach a much larger audience and pool of potential bidders through the wonders of the internet.
AUCTION PROCEDURE:
Like last year, we will continue our auction system at www.KYLions.auctionanything.com . We will again be televising the auction each night on Insight Cable 12 for Henderson Insight customers and we will be streaming the bropadcast on our website http://hendersonlions.org, where hundreds of non-cable customers viewed the program last year. We will again be broadcasting from the Sandy Watkins Training Lab at the Sullivan Technical center on the campus of the Henderson Community College.
DONATIONS:
The success, and very existence, of The Henderson Lions Club auction is totally dependent upon the generous donations of individuals, merchants and organizations. All items which we auction are donated. We gratefully accept all donations of cash or any item which we may lawfully, and in good taste, sell, including merchandise, certificates for services, collectibles, and sports memorabilia. For 2012, we may also accept donations of motor vehicles. We will take care of all title transfers necessary with these items, and insure that the donor receives the necessary documentation to obtain a tax deduction for such items.
All donations to the auction are tax deductible under the Internal Revenue Code. The auction is conducted under the auspices of the Henderson City Lions Charitable Trust, which is duly recognized as a non-profit charitable organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Any donor who donates $50.00 in cash or $175.00 in goods or services for the Auction will be recognized on air at least one time each night of the auction. Any donor who donates at least $175.00 in cash will be recognized on air at least five times each night of the auction.
